CHINA EXPERIENCE
Beijing | Forbidden City Concert Hall
For a concert experience unlike any other in Beijing, head to the Forbidden City Concert Hall. Tucked inside Beijing Zhongshan Park, just steps from the Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square, it offers a rare chance to pair an evening of classical music with a walk through one of the city's historical royal gardens.
The hall is home to the concert seasons of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and regularly hosts performances during the Beijing Music Festival. While its international lineup is more intimate than that of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, it is especially well known for chamber music, distinguished soloists, and a warm, elegant atmosphere.
Best for: First-time visitors to Beijing, chamber music lovers, history enthusiasts, and strolls through the royal gardens.
Address: No 4 Zhonghua Lu (inside Beijing Zhongshan Park), Dongcheng district, Beijing
Getting there: Take Subway Line 1 to Tian'anmen West Station (Exit B), then walk through Zhongshan Park to reach the concert hall.
