Dunhuang Mogao International Airport is the primary gateway. It offers direct flights from major Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu and Urumqi. Airport shuttles and taxis are readily available for a 20-minute ride to town.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Dunhuang is during the spring (April to early June) and autumn (September to October).

Getting Around

Mogao Caves: Located 25 km southeast of the city. The most reliable way is to take the dedicated tourist shuttle bus from the Dunhuang Tourist Center (near the railway station).
