Mogao Caves: Located 25 km southeast of the city. The most reliable way is to take the dedicated tourist shuttle bus from the Dunhuang Tourist Center (near the railway station). Taxis and private car hires are also available.

Mingsha Mountain & Crescent Spring: Only about 6 km from the city center, easily reachable by taxi and public bus.

Yumen Pass & Yangguan Pass: These ancient fortresses are 80-90 km from the city. Joining a guided tour or hiring a private car/driver for the day is highly recommended.

Within Dunhuang City: The city center is compact and walkable. Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. Bicycle rentals are a fun and ecofriendly way to explore local areas like the dunes.
