Look closely at this Neolithic jade qi (ceremonial axe), and you will see its fine linear carvings. One side displays a semi-profile head of a deity, wearing a crown and with long, flowing hair, clearly discernible eyes and eyebrows. The other side depicts the image of a deity's crown placed on a square pedestal, conveying a sense of mystery and majesty.

Symbolizing the power of a military commander, this jade qi was unearthed in 1964 from Houzhuang village, Licheng county, Changzhi, Shanxi province, and is now preserved in the Shanxi Museum.
