The Dunhuang Night Market, also known as the Shazhou Night Market, comes alive with glowing lights and bustling crowds as night falls, capturing the true nighttime spirit of Dunhuang – no visitor leaves empty-handed.

Stroll through streets lined with architecture in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) style and follow the irresistible aromas of local specialties, from donkey meat yellow noodles (lyurou huangmian) and jiangshui (fermented vegetable soup) noodles, to saozi (minced meat) noodles, niangpizi (cold noodles made from rice flour), Dunhuang-style haggis, grilled lamb chops, roasted fish, and mutton shashlik. With more than 100 handicraft stalls added to the vibrant atmosphere, the market offers dining, shopping, entertainment, sightseeing, and accommodation across 10 themed zones – making it the perfect place to experience Dunhuang's local flavors and folk culture after dark.
