Imagine traveling back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and following a gifted young musician, Bai Xin, from the Xiyu (Western Regions) on his journey to the East. He passes by Dunhuang and is mesmerized by the musical splendor in the murals of the Mogao Caves, embarking on a journey of pursuing the integration of the essence of Eastern and Western music.
Ancient Sound of Dunhuang, a "cave-style immersive performance", has no dialogue and only dance and ancient melodies that "awaken" the grotto murals. Music serves as a cultural band that connects the East and West.
The theater is conveniently located within 3 kilometers of Dunhuang Railway Station and 5 km of Dunhuang Mogao International Airport. Just outside, the Shangyuan Market invites you into a vibrant Dunhuang cultural street themed on ancient Silk Road exchange, where you can taste local flavors, enjoy folk performances, and explore creative handicrafts.
